Find Chaffee County Booking Photos

Chaffee County jail mugshots are not shown in an official public booking-photo gallery in the sheriff sources located. A search for Chaffee County booking photos should start with the official jail's limited custody policy, then move to sheriff records or court records when a photo or arrest document is needed. Chaffee County jail mugshots, if releasable, are treated as criminal justice records rather than a guaranteed online roster feature. State prison photos and federal custody records follow different rules.

Chaffee County Jail Mugshots Overview

No official Chaffee County jail roster, booking-photo gallery, recent-bookings page, or public mugshot archive was found in the sheriff website sources reviewed for this build. The official jail page says staff will confirm only current custody and bond status. It does not state that booking photos, charges, housing unit details, or release dates are available by phone.

That finding should guide every Chaffee County mugshot search. The absence of a public gallery does not prove a booking photo does not exist. It means the public route is a records request to the proper criminal justice agency, subject to Colorado law, redaction, withholding, and case-specific limits. Court records can show charges and dispositions, but a court docket is not a booking-photo source.

What is and isn't public: Chaffee jail staff confirm custody and bond status; booking photos or reports require records channels if releasable.

Where Chaffee County Booking Photos Start

Start with the official jail page and the jail phone line, but keep expectations narrow. The jail can answer whether the person is currently held and whether there is a bond status. It should not be used as a mugshot delivery line. If a booking photo is needed for a specific arrest, the next step is the records office or the police agency that made or maintains the report.

  1. Check the official Chaffee County jail page for current detention rules and contact details.
  2. Call 719-539-7150 only to confirm custody and bond status.
  3. For a booking photo or booking record, contact Chaffee County Sheriff's Records at 719-539-2814 or records@chaffeesheriff.org.
  4. Use the sheriff records-release form or the Chaffee County NextRequest portal when the request fits that route.
  5. If the case is a Salida Police report from January 1, 2022 onward, use Salida Police Records instead of sheriff records.
  6. Use Colorado Judicial for charges and case documents, not for a mugshot gallery.

Chaffee County Mugshot Record Fields

Many counties display a roster profile with a booking photo and fields such as name, charge, booking date, bond, and status. Chaffee County's official sources did not reveal that kind of public profile. The confirmed public jail record is therefore much smaller, and the unconfirmed fields should not be promised.

FieldOfficial Chaffee County Finding
Booking PhotoNo official public jail mugshot gallery or photo field was located.
Custody StatusJail may confirm whether it currently has the inmate.
Bond StatusJail may confirm bond status by phone.
ChargesUse Colorado Judicial, the clerk, or records requests for filed charges and reports.
Booking DateNot found in a public county roster; may require agency records if releasable.
Housing UnitNot publicly confirmed; the jail has seven housing units but does not publish assignments in located sources.

Request Chaffee County Booking Photos

The Chaffee County Sheriff's Records Division is the local route for sheriff records and older Salida Police reports. Records staff maintain law-enforcement records, process case files, and handle local criminal-history records. The sheriff police reports page says a signed request is required and that public reports are usually available approximately three to five days after the occurrence. Release is regulated by law, so some reports or attachments may not be released.

If the report was created by Salida Police from January 1, 2022 onward, use the Salida Police Records route. If the case led to formal charges, use the court route for charging documents and dispositions. A booking photo request and a court document request are different products.

Chaffee County Photo Request Fees

The sheriff's published fee schedule supports a practical records request budget, but a fee does not guarantee release. The agency may redact or withhold records under Colorado criminal justice records rules, victim or juvenile protections, sealed-case limits, or investigative concerns. For booking-photo context, the photo and report fees are the most relevant.

Additional report pages$0.25 eachApplies when a report is longer than the included pages.
Color photos$5.00 per pagePossible booking-photo context if the photo is releasable.

Are Chaffee County Jail Mugshots Public

Colorado does not require Chaffee County to publish an online mugshot roster in the official sources located. Criminal justice records can be requested, but request does not mean automatic release of every attachment or image. The Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act applies to criminal justice records and permits inspection subject to statutory limits, redactions, and public-interest analysis. Juvenile records, child victims or witnesses, sexual-assault identifying information, sealed cases, suppressed files, medical or mental-health information, and ongoing investigative material are high-risk categories for withholding or redaction.

Key Statutes:

C.R.S. 24-72-201 et seq. covers Colorado's general public-records policy for many public records.

C.R.S. 24-72-304 addresses inspection of criminal justice records, with limits and redactions for protected interests.

CBI public CHRI rules exclude juvenile arrests, certain under-age traffic arrests, and arrests sealed by court order.

Chaffee Court Records Are Not Mugshots

Court records after a jail arrest can show the prosecutor's filed charges, hearing dates, orders, and disposition. They normally answer what the charge became after the arrest, not whether a booking photo is public. A complaint or information may be the right document when the issue is the filed charge. A disposition or sentence order may be the right document when the issue is outcome. A police report or booking record is the more direct route for a booking photo, if release is allowed.

The court records after a jail arrest route is still important when a mugshot search is really about whether the case was dismissed, amended, sealed, or resolved. Those facts can affect what should remain public and what documentation the requester may need to give an agency or record holder.

CDOC Photos Are Not County Mugshots

Buena Vista Correctional Complex is physically in Chaffee County, but it is a Colorado Department of Corrections state prison complex. CDOC's Offender Search has a "Show Photos on the Result Page" option and searches by DOC number, name, race or ethnicity, and gender. Those photos, when displayed, are state-prison search photos. They are not Chaffee County jail booking photos and do not prove that the person was booked in the Chaffee County Detention Center.

The CDOC Offender Search page is the official source for sentenced Colorado prisoners, including people housed at Buena Vista Correctional Complex.

Chaffee County state prison booking photo search through CDOC
CDOC search is a state-prison lookup with optional photos, separate from Chaffee County jail booking-photo records.

When a search result shows Buena Vista, use CDOC facility rules for visiting, mail, and money rather than sheriff jail procedures.

Federal and ICE Mugshot Limits

No BOP prison or ICE detention facility was located inside Chaffee County. Federal and immigration custody use separate systems. The BOP Inmate Locator searches federal inmates from 1982 to present and shows identifying and custody fields such as name, register number, age, race, sex, release date, and location. The official research did not find public federal mugshots in that locator. ICE ODLS is the official immigration detention locator and is not a county jail mugshot source.

A person can have a Chaffee County connection and still be held under federal, immigration, out-of-county, parole, probation, or DOC authority. The correct photo or record route follows the agency with custody or the agency that created the booking or case record.

Chaffee Mugshot Removal and Sealing

No Chaffee-specific mugshot removal procedure was located. If an official arrest or court record is sealed, the person should use the court order and the originating official office to correct, restrict, or update records as allowed by that office's procedure. If a third-party site has copied a photo, that site is not the official Chaffee County record. Do not treat a commercial posting as proof of current custody, charges, or case status.

For official records, the better path is to resolve the underlying court record first. Use Chaffee Combined Court or Colorado Judicial records for dismissal, disposition, sealing, or expungement paperwork. Then contact the agency that holds the booking or report record with the required documentation. Do not pay a private mugshot site expecting that payment to change the official sheriff, court, CDOC, or CBI record.

Note: Commercial mugshot pages are not endorsed here and should not replace official sheriff, court, CDOC, BOP, ICE, or CBI records.
